About
Study Room
This policy governs the use of Study Rooms at the Putnam County Library System. These rooms are available to the public and are intended for individuals or groups of 6 or less. The intended purpose of these rooms is to provide a space for individuals or small groups to conduct quiet study and group projects.
- Availability/Reservations: All Study Rooms will be available on a first come first serve basis. However, a study room will be made available for reservation as a meeting room once a meeting room policy is completed. All meeting room policies will apply if the study room is being used as a meeting room. Otherwise, reservations can only be made up to one day in advance and the room can only be reserved once per day. Reservations can be made by calling the Adult Services Library Staff or reserving in advance at the Adult Services Circulation Desk.
-
Time Limit: Whether on a first come first serve basis or by reservation, a group or individual will have up to two hours to use the room assigned to them. If there are no other individuals or groups waiting time can be extended by one hour. Use of Study Rooms for a specific individual or group may not exceed three hours total per day.

- Terms of use:
- Users or a Responsible Party must be 18 years or older and must sign in with name and contact information and present valid photo ID or Library Card.
- The room will be inspected by PCL staff before and after use of the room. The Library Director has the right to charge the individuals who checked out the Room the cost of any damages/vandalism that occurs while those individuals have the room checked out.
- Children 13 or under may not be left unattended by an adult in the Study Rooms.
- The Library is not responsible for the loss or damage of any property left in Study Rooms.
- Misuse of the Study Rooms may result in the loss of library privileges. Library staff has the authority to expel individuals or groups using the room inappropriately. Please refer to the Library Code of Conduct Policy for rules regarding patron behavior in the Library.
- Library users who are not in good standing for any reason may not use the study rooms.
- Any deviations from these rules must be approved by Library Management.
- If the Library needs the use of these rooms for any reason, that will supersede the ability for patrons to use these rooms.
